Gravity Oil Separator (API Type)
Oil/water separation is often a critical component of a successful
wastewater or stormwater treatment system. A well designed separator will effectively remove free oil and help to achieve the most efficient operation of the entire treatment system.
The Tenco Hydro Gravity Oil Separator, like other Tenco systems, is designed for the particular application it will be used in. A
number of operations are offered to best suit the treatment needs and customer preferences.
Systems can be provided preassembled in steel tanks or field assembly in concrete tanks. Tenco Gravity Oil Separators are designed in accordance with criteria for oil/water separators established
by the American Petroleum Institute (API) in their Publication Number 421. Tenco Hydro utilizes the proven API "reaction jet" inlet design. Covers are a frequently supplied option.
Tenco offers automatic belt, tilting pipe and roll skimmers for removal of separated oil to suit the
specific application. Collectors can also be provided for settled solids. Options are available for the transfer of both collected oil and solids. Oil storage compartments or tanks are often supplied.
Controls for the Gravity Oil Separator are custom designed for each application. They can vary from
simple, manual controls to more complex systems which can interface with other treatment equipment.
Like other Tenco Hydro systems, the Gravity Oil Separators are factory assembled to the extent
possible, minimizing installation time and expense.
Gravity Oil Separators are often followed by chemical treatment to break emulsions; and C/ari-Float dissolved air flotation to separate remaining solids and oils. Chemical feed, mixing and monitoring
equipment are common components. Also preassembled, chemical treatment and Clari-Float systems can be combined with a Gravity Oil Separator to create a modular treatment system
designed specifically for the job intended.
Whether standing alone or as part of a larger system, the Tenco Hydro Gravity Oil Separator is the
most effective wastewater treatment tool.
